                             Thinking about Herbs

                          Good afternoon everyone

                         Thank you for stopping by

Last weekend we made a trip to Southern Maine to visit with family, and to go to Maine Maple Syrup Days. I think it's about a five hour drive, and we weren't even leaving the State.

We had a wonderful time, and I purchased this cute little box from Oak Hill farms which contained a small bag of Chamomile, Red Rose Petals, Mugwort, Sweet Hops, Lavender flowers and little muslin bags to put them in. You then place them in your pillow case for a relaxing nights sleep, they smell so good I keep opening the box just to take a little sniff (smile)

I love the herbs and I love to use them in homemade soaps, and for cooking. My Aunt suggested I go to school to be an Herbalist, while this sounds really great, I just don't like the idea of going to school so that thought was not long leaving my head.

After I was home a couple days I started searching on line. There are on line classes.(still sounds like school to me) BUTTTT there are day classes, week classes and monthly classes offered in a couple places with in the State. Now I'm getting excited Now I haven't signed up just yet and I won't be an herbalist but these classes sound like so much fun.

Last year I went all the way to West Virginia for a retreat ( you can see more on that at the blog chickens in the road there are even pictures of me on there making soap)

So its looking like herbs are in my future. What interesting things do you do with herbs?

  1. I would love to learn more about herbs, too, especially for soaps. But I have too many other things on my plate right now...maybe you could become the specialist and teach the rest of us ;)

    1. Cindy, I think this summer I'm going to take a couple classes, I've got a lot on my plate right now too so I won't be going to West Virginia this fall, but maybe by 2013 I'll be ready to teach a class

  2. Hi Janice... I love herbs and grow as many as I can.. I use them for cooking, toiletries and such but I would dearly love to take some classes, too.. I don't know if there are any here in New Brunswick, Canada, though.. Thanks for inspiring me to look and see..
