Food Storage
Good afternoon every one. Again it's another rainy day one of those days when you just want to lay around and read a good book or watch a good movie. I'm sorry everyone I must have been day dreaming those things don't happen around here, you see there is always barking, crowing or some kinda animal sounds to tell me there is work to be done.
Today I am working on my food storage. I would say keeping my pantry, and freezers full for as little cost as possible is one of the things I'm most proud of.
We'll start with my pantry. I do buy a few things at the grocery store. when pasta and sauces are on sale I buy them although I can make pasta and last year I got blight in my tomatoes. I also buy in 50lb bags flour,
Oatmeal
Sugar
pastas, sauces and kethup needs restocking |
I buy yeast and chocolate chips, soda, and baking powder in bulk. From those things add some eggs grown in my back yard and raw milk from a small local farmer and I can make anything.
Home canning- I grow and can green beans, wax beans, beets, carrots, pickles, relish, blueberry jelly, apple jelly, applesauce, strawberry jam, and strawberry pie filling and everyones favorite hot pepper jelly.
I have 2 cabinets and as you can see they are getting low |
Fiddleheads blanched and ready for bagging |
Hi Janice.. It rained here all day, too.. I think our weather is very similar.. Not that far apart, really..
ReplyDeleteYour pantry looks good and you are a very energetic girl, I see..
I was going to pickle fiddleheads but with the E coli outbreak I decided not to..
We had some for supper, though.. smile.
God bless..
