        Planting Gardens and moving Chickens

What a beautiful day we had here today must have been almost 80 degrees.

I got up early this morning with plans to just mow the lawns. 10:30 lawns all mowed so I got busy on the garden. Today I planted                green beans        cucumbers

                             wax beans            swiss chard

                              dill                       radishes

these went in the raised beds.

Last year I saved a whole bunch of pumpkin, and squash seeds. Today I scattered them over the whole area where the pigs were last year and covered the area with old straw. I don't know if they will grow or not but it didn't cost a thing so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I also planted a few flowers today. Still a lot more flowers and veg's to plant but that will have to be next week as we're getting ready tomorrow to go away for a few days. This is a holiday weekend for us.

I started to move the baby chicks and there mamas to the big coop today. I want to get them all moved by next week so the turkeys can be moved from my basement out to the coop the chicks are in now. If the turkeys stay where they are much longer my house is going to start smelling like a barn(grin)

I moved three chicks and there mama. So far they are doing great, but when the mama gets out of sight they chirp so loud I can here them up at the house. The older chickens don't seem to be bothering them but a good hen will protect her chicks. I still have 2 more mamas and 5 chicks to move tomorrow. Then the small coop will be ready for the turkeys.

For dinner this evening I made pork chops(from our pigs) and fiddleheads(I picked myself) I also made a rhubarb cake, and Hillbilly apple cobbler (recipe from Julie over at our little red salt box. Everything tasted wonderful.

Well that's my day. A very full and productive day. I should sleep very well tonight(grin)

Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow.

                                        Hugs
